David Albin and his wife, Mary Waugh Albin, were born in Ireland and settled in Attala County around 1840. Their son, Dr. Robert Albin, operated a drugstore and practiced medicine in the Newport vicinity.

The first Albin to move to Goodman was David Albin's son, John Albin. He and his family lived in the house now occupied by Bob Horne and operated a general merchandise business where the Goodman Office of Holmes County Bank and Trust Company is now located.

About the time John Albin moved to Sallis, Mississippi, his nephew, Hal J. Albin, moved his stock of goods from Branchville to Goodman. He was a merchant in Goodman for nearly 50 years.

Hal Albin's wife was Callie Branch from Attala County. They had four children: Hughie Lee, Ernestine Elizabeth, Hallie Louise, and Edwin David "Jack." A cousin, Adam Albin, spent most of his childhood in the Albin home.

Mr. Albin's two sons followed him as long-time merchants in Goodman; now his grandson, Jimmy Albin, owns "Albin’s."

Hughie Lee Albin married Kay Chapman of Water Valley, Mississippi, and they live in Goodman where he was a merchant for 25 years. Their children are James E. "Jimmy" Albin, Linda Lee Multer, Mary Katheryn Young, and Cynthia Kay Harvey.

Jimmy Albin married Patsy Toombs of Pickens, Mississippi. They and their daughter, Josie Kate, live in the Albin home in Goodman which Jimmy's grandfather purchased from the Waugh estate in 1909. Later they moved to Silver Creek and then to Mendenhall, Mississippi, where Ernestine died in 1972. Barbara Anne is a Certified Public Accountant; she owns and operates SHIVERS AND ASSOCIATES, a management consultant service, in Houston, Texas.

Hallie Albin married William A. Walker of Kilmichael, Mississippi, who was in the drug business in Clarksdale, Mississippi, until his death in 1973. Hallie still resides in Clarksdale. This couple has two children: Patricia Anne, who married Chris Collins of Birmingham, Alabama, where they make their home; and William A. Walker, Jr., who married Rebecca Anne Roundsavall of Greenville, Mississippi, where they reside and where William is in the telecommunications business. Patricia and her husband have a son, Alexander Cade Walker Collins; William and his wife have a daughter, Callie Stratton Walker.
